Working with digital stamps

This month, the DT at Practical Scrappers were given some digital stamps to work with from Dragons Lair Digital Designs. To show how versatile digital stamps can be, I made some samples by printing the digital images on something other than plain white cardstock.

For the first image, I printed the bear digital stamp on some pink polka dot paper; the second image was printed on some blue denim stripe paper; the third image was printed on some Bazzil dotted Swiss cardstock, and the last image was printed on kraft cardstock. In each case, the image was also printed a second time on white cardstock, just so I could cut out the white "fur" trim on the teddy bear's hat and color the matching scarf.

Hope this gives you some idea for using digital images! We'd love to see your projects, if you care to share them on the Practical Scrappers blog! (And if you tell us how you print your digital images, you have a chance to win some digital stamps from Dragons Lair!)

Cuttlebug layouts

Today at Practical Scrappers, we're exploring ways to use your Cuttlebug on layouts. For this page, I used the "You" embossing folder. I placed different colors of scrap cardstock in the folder, embossed the words, cut them apart and sanded them to expose the white core. With all the descriptive words, this folder is a great one for use on scrapbook pages.

Be sure to check out the Practical Scrappers blog to see more examples of using the Cuttlebug on scrapbook pages!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #37

Since this is Thanksgiving week, it's only fitting that our challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is to create a project showing something you're thankful for, or a project that celebrates Thanksgiving in some way.

I based my page on a sketch from Sassy Lil Sketches, and used a couple of photos of my immediate family - DH, DS, DD, DSIL and DGD. I don't tell them this often enough, but they are definitely the biggest blessings in my life!

I used Cursive 101 for the title, which is one of my favorite fonts, especially for welding letters with Design Studio. The words were sized in DS, but it's close to 1.25" high. The hearts were cut from George & Basic Shapes, at 1.25" and 1", and then I added some threaded buttons. The yummy pp's are from the Georgia Rain collection by Scrap Within Reach.

We'd love to see your projects for this challenge. Please link them up to the Fantabulous Cricut site, and you'll be entered for a chance at one of the sponsor prizes this week!

Cuttlebug cards @ Practical Scrappers

Today, Practical Scrappers is featuring cards made with the Cuttlebug. The DT has come up with some wonderful cards, so be sure to check out the site for some embossing inspiration!

I embossed some pp and a diecut sentiment label for my card. Embossing pp is a nice way to add subtle texture to your project.

If you use your Cuttlebug for a card project, be sure to link it up to the Practical Scrappers site for a chance at a prize from one of this month's sponsors!

Featuring Viola's Boutique!

As a DT member for Fantabulous Cricut, I was lucky enough to receive some wonderful crocheted items from one of our sponsors - Viola's Boutique. I loved these pumpkin colored flowers the minute I saw them - they're a perfect accent for this page about my DGD in her crocheted punkin' hat! I added some green Queen & Co. pearls to the centers, but you could leave the centers plain or add buttons or brads instead.

I used three Cricut cartridges for this layout: Lyrical Letters (picking, perfect), Simply Sweet (pumpkin) and Doodlecharms (pumpkin image). For the word "pumpkin", I cut the letters at 1.5" but used the Real Dial Size option so the letters would all be the same height.

Be sure to check Fantabulous Cricut for the other DT projects using items from Viola's Boutique. And be sure to check for Monday's challenge because Viola's Boutique will be the sponsor!

Sassy Lil Sketches - November card sketch!

It's the 14th, and that means it's time for a new card sketch from Sassy Lil Sketches!
Here's this month's sketch:

Here's my card. I used my Cricut to cut the scallop circle, and then added a Prima flower and a stamped sentiment.

If you use this card sketch, link your creation to the Sassy Lil Sketches blog, for a chance to win one of this month's sponsor prizes!

It's Baby Day @ Practical Scrappers!

Today @ Practical Scrappers, we're featuring baby layouts. Be sure to check out all the adorable pages (and adorable babies in the photos!) featured today.

We had our first grandchild last year, and I have to admit to going a bit overboard with baby pages in the past 16 months, LOL! This time I'm sharing one of the "not so cute" photos, because we have to capture those crying times as well as all the smiles, right? The large flowers were cut from pp, and then I cut some smaller flowers from the paper and used my I-Top tool to make brads for the centers of the large flowers.

If you have a baby layout to share, please link it up at Practical Scrappers!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #35

This week's challenge @ Fantabulous Cricut is a two-part challenge: use the color green and a circle shape(s) on your project.

I used some green pp and cardstock on this page, and several circle shapes. The title spot is a scalloped circle cut at 2.5" from the Stamping cartridge. I cut some 1.75" circles from George, inked the edges and then cut them in half to make the scalloped border at the bottom of the page. I punched some small circles from thin chipboard and them covered them with Autumn Flower Soft to make the small circle accents. The pp is from Imaginisce's Apple Cider line - great for Fall projects!

We hope you join us in this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut!
