Support your cause @ Fantabulous Cricut!

This week's challenge @ Fantabulous Cricut is to make a project that reflects a cause that's near & dear to your heart. I'll admit that I struggled with this one. There are several causes/charities that I support but I couldn't figure out how to work them into a project. I finally decided to go with a couple of bookmarks, to show my support for the "Reading is Fundamental" children's literacy program.

I was inspired by the images on their website: http://www.rif.org/. The blue and white book is part of the RIF logo, and the "Leading to Reading" is part of their toddler/preschool program. If you have little ones, check out the RIF website - they have some great stories, games, fingerplays and songs - fun stuff!

The book on the first bookmark is from "My Community", cut at 2.5". I cut one blue and one white book, then cut them in half and reassembled them. The turtle on the second bookmark is from "Walk in my Garden", and the other animals are from "Zooballoo". The giraffe was cut at 2.75" and the other animals cut at 2" to 2.5". The font on this bookmark is "CK Tomfoolery", and then I colored in the font with markers.

We'd love to see what causes you support - please link your project up to the Fantabulous Cricut blog. You might win this week's sponsor prize!

Winter is for the Birds!

Die Cut Divas's is a new challenge blog starting up in February, but they're having a kick-off challenge to make a fun winter card. This card expresses my feelings about Winter right now - too much snow and too cold temps this month!

I used Create a Critter for the branch, Birthday Bash for the bird and Speaking of Winter for the hat and scarf. I hand cut the snow and added a little bit of stickles. Is it Spring yet? :)

Over at Practical Scrappers, it's all about snow! The challenge today is to make a layout including snowflakes or snowmen. For my page, I used some pink snowflake pp from Fancy Pants, along with some metal snowflake charms, that I embossed with white Zing embossing powder to cover the silver finish. (Gotta love that Zing embossing powder!)

We'd love to see your projects, so please link them up to Practical Scrappers! You might win a prize from one of this month's sponsors!

Fantabulous Cricut has some sweet treats this week!

This week's challenge @ Fantabulous Cricut is to use something "sweet" on your project. I used the Birthday Bash cartridge for this card.

The bird with the banner image was cut at 3.5". The cake was cut at 1.25". I added some baker's twine, buttons, and a little pompom to the party hat.

I hope you'll join us at Fantabulous Cricut this week! We'd love to see what you create for this challenge!

It's "bling" time @ Practical Scrappers

Practical Scrappers is all about "bling" today!

Since I was using older photos on my page, I kept the bling a little more subtle. The crocheted snowflakes have some metallic thread running through them, the red cardstock has gold flecks in it, and I added some pearls to the snowflakes and the journaling block. It doesn't show up in the photo, but I also used some pearl Glimmer Mist on the patterned papers.

Glimmer mist, gems, glitter, pearls - so many ways to add sparkle and shine to your pages.....be sure to check out all the examples @ Practical Scrappers!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #41 - Snow, snow, snow!

This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is to create a project featuring a snowy theme. I used Accent Essentials and Simply Sweet to create this page of my DGD playing in the snow, wearing her cute little snowsuit.

The title was cut from Simply Sweet at 2" (snow) and 1.5" (cute). The heart silhouette was cut from the same cartridge, at 1.5". I used the smaller inside portion in my title and the silhouette as a photo accent. The snowflakes are from Accent Essentials (the cut is a group of snowflakes) cut at 1.75" and 1.5". I used my i-Rock to add some crystal accents to the snowflakes.

We'd love to see your snowy creations this week, so please link them up to Fantabulous Cricut. You might even win one of the sponsor prizes!
