It's time for a new challenge at the Merry Little Christmas Challenge blog. This is our 10th challenge, so we're getting close to that one year anniversary!
For my project this month, I tried a technique that I haven't done for a long time. I diecut images from double sided adhesive tape, then covered the diecut image with glitter. It's a little messy, but definitely adds a lot of sparkle to a Christmas card!
I used Elizabeth Craft Designs double sided adhesive and her silk microfine glitter, but you could use whatever double sided adhesive and glitter you might have.
First, the white cardstock backgrounds were dry embossed, just to add a little more texture to the card. Then I diecut the double sided adhesive, leaving the backing paper on both sides. After cutting, I laid the diecut in a coffee filter (it's anti static) and carefully removed the adhesive backing paper from the front of the diecut. I liberally sprinkled the exposed adhesive with glitter, lightly tapped and brushed off any excess and put the glittered diecut in a clean coffee filter. Now you can pour all the excess glitter back into the container so you don't have any waste.
I flipped the diecut over so the glitter side is down, then removed the adhesive backing from the plain side of the diecut piece, and adhered it to the card front, glitter side out. If desired, you can add embellishments to the glittered piece or to the card front.
One thing that's different with the Elizabeth Craft Designs silk microfine glitter, is that after you have adhered it, you gently rub all over the glittered image. This removes any excess glitter that may not have adhered well, but it also polishes the glitter and really brings out the sparkle.
We'd love to see your Christmas projects at the Merry Little Christmas Challenge blog this month. Please join us!
