2 Broke Girls Sketch challenge

There's a new scrappy challenge site & scrapping community around called 2 Broke Girls.  Their first challenges for March are posted and they have some great ones - sketch, quotes, recipe challenges and more.  You'll definitely want to check out the site!

This layout is based on the March sketch challenge.  Papers and photo frame are from Pink Paislee, and the "photo op" stamp is from Amy Tangerine.   The photo is my 3 year old DGD and my 14 year old niece.  My DGD just adores her older cousins!

I hope you'll check out the challenges @ 2 Broke Girls!

Fabulous Friday chipboard challenge @ Frosted Designs

This week's Fabulous Friday challenge @ Frosted Designs is all about using chipboard, one of the long time staples of scrapping supplies.   For my project, I decided to alter these chipboard letters that have been in my stash for a couple of years.  I loved the style of the letters, but had trouble using them because of the color and pattern.
I started by sanding the letters to roughen up the smooth surface and remove some of the color.  Then I basecoated the letters with white acrylic paint, and once that dried, I added a layer of Antique Linen crackle paint.  Once that coat had dried and crackled, I lightly spritzed the letters with white mist to get the "beachy" look I wanted for this page.
I also used some old chipboard slide mounts that were printed with seashells and sand, distressing them with sandpaper and Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I cut the slide mounts in half, added some twine, and tucked them under the left edge of the photo.

We'd love to see your chipboard projects this week.  Just link them up to Frosted Designs for a chance to win a great  prize by this week's sponsor, Quick Quotes!

Christmas in July

It's July - time to start getting ready for Christmas!  I'm taking an online class of Christmas projects at My Creative Classroom starting tomorrow, and playing along with Unscripted Sketches "Christmas in July" celebration, and working on a Jingle Belles Christmas card challenge, so I'm definitely getting in the mood!

The challenge at Jingle Belles this week was to create a vintage style card.  I used some of last year's Pink Paislee Christmas papers to make these two cards, and based them on sketch #166 from Unscripted Sketches.

It doesn't show up well in the photos, but I used some rock candy Stickles, antique linen Distress Stickles, gold Stickles, and rock candy crackle paint on these cards to add a little vintage "bling".   I'm not normally a big fan of bling and sparkle on my projects, except for Christmas projects.

Now to put on a little Christmas music and get started on some more holiday projects!

Snow day

This is a page I did for one of Scrap-Friendzy's sketch challenges this month, and also for the Fantabulous Cricut challenge this week.   I used some pearl paint on the snowflakes, the doily, and also on the blue dimensional letter stickers. Pattern paper is from Pink Paislee.

CAS-ual Friday's Sketch Challenge

This week's challenge @ CAS-ual Fridays is a sketch challenge - one of my favorite types of challenges!

Here's my card based on the sketch.  The patterned paper is from Pink Paislee's "Snow Day" line, and the sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts.  I cut the snowflake with my Cricut and then embossed it with a swirly Cuttlebug folder and added a Prima gem center.
