I decided to use the chalkboard stamping technique to create these little mini easels.
Easels: Hobby Lobby; Stamps: Stampabilities; Ink: Colorbox frost white; colored pencil: Crayola
I had done chalkboard stamping on black paper before, but never on an actual chalkboard, so there was some trial and error on this project. I stamped the image on the chalkboard and then embossed it with white embossing powder and set it aside to cool for a bit. Since I wanted a more chalky look to this project, I outlined a few of the letters and colored in some of the "O's" with a white colored pencil, and smudged some white ink around the edges with my fingertip, just to get a more chalky look.
Now some of my "trial and error" notes. My original intent was just to stamp the images, not to emboss them because I was afraid the heat might warp the chalkboard surface. However, when the stamped image still wasn't dry after 24 hours, I decided embossing was the best bet. Even after embossing, the image is still apt to smudge, so be careful when handling your stamped image.
We hope you join our monochrome black & white challenge this month! Link your projects to the Love to Scrap blog for a chance to win a prize from our sponsor, My Crafty Heart.
