Hunting eggs

I haven't scrapped last year's Easter photos yet, but did get a couple of this year's photo on this page.
The background is a cut file from Paper Issues, cut with my Cricut and then backed with patterned papers.

This is my youngest granddaughter, on the hunt for Easter eggs!  This is for the Free File Friday challenge @ Paper Issues, and also for the current challenge @ Love to Scrap (use flowers on your project).  The challenges are on the Paper Issues blog, but you need to join the Facebook group to play along.  I highly recommend this group!

Holey cardstock, Batman!

No, you don't have to be a superhero to join in the new challenge @ Love to Scrap!  You just need to create a project with at least one hole/opening for your stamping to show through.

For my card, I diecut a scallop frame opening from cardstock, then adhered it over the stamped image with foam tape for some dimension.  The image is the Calla Lilly Sympathy Frame from DRS Designs, colored with colored pencils and gamsol for a softer look.  I added a little clear shimmer with a Wink of Stella pen, and a few tiny pearls for subtle accents.

Challenge #30 @ Love to Scrap - Anything Goes!

Time for another "anything goes" challenge @ Love to Scrap!  The only requirement is to have a stamped image on your project - the theme, colors, and products are all up to you!

One of our sponsors for this challenge is Lawn Fawn.  If you haven't tried any of their stamps or dies, they are awesome!  For my card, I used the Summertime Charm stamp set and matching dies.  I used a mix of Copic coloring, stamping on patterned paper, and stamping with colored inks to make the jar and flowers.  I diecut a jar from a transparency and placed that over the top of the stamped image to look more like a glass jar. 

 

I really love the images in this stamp set, and I think you can get a lot of use out of the jar stamp by pairing it with other images.

It's B-I-N-G-O time @ Love to Scrap!

For our first Love to Scrap challenge of May, we want you to play some BINGO with us.  Here's
your bingo card.  Just choose one of the vertical rows and use those items (along with a stamp, of course!) on your project

I used row "O" in my card:  any sentiment, brads, twine, purple and embossing (heat embossing on my card).  The image is "Lift Off" from The Stamping Chef, one of our sponsors for this challenge.

 

 

I printed the digi image twice.  One became the background on the card, and the other was colored and cut out.  I cut through the "smoke" ring at the bottom and then adhered the rocket and flames with foam adhesive.  After coloring the planets and stars on the background, I colored over them with a Versamark pen, then embossed with glitter embossing powder.  The puffy smoke clouds were made by applying white liquid applique and silver glitter, then applying a heat gun until the liquid applique puffed up.  I also added some clear dimensional adhesive to the porthole so it would look like a glass window.

It's a Scraplift Challenge @ Love to Scrap

Time for Challenge #28 at Love to Scrap!  This time we want you to scraplift at least three elements from Cathy's page below, and use them on your project.  (Note: Your project doesn't have to be a scrapbook page, it can be a card, canvas, altered item, etc.)   You can see Cathy's page for the scraplift inspiration here.

 

For my page, I lifted the circle, flowers, gemstone flourish, single photo, and border strips.

The flowers are the "3 Doodled Blossoms" digi stamp from Fred She Said, one of our sponsors for this challenge.  I colored the flowers with regular colored pencils, then blended them with Gamsol to get a soft watercolored look.  The digi image has the three flowers together on stems, but I cut them apart and layered them on the die cut circle.  That's a great thing about digi images - you can resize them, cut them apart, and color them to match your project!

Love to Scrap Challenge #26 - Buttons and Bows

Our second Love to Scrap challenge for March, is to use both buttons and bows on your project, along with our normal requirement to use at least one digi or rubber/acrylic stamp. Here is my scrapbook layout, using "Cupcakes" by Alipeeps Art from Stitchy Bears Digi Outlet, one of our sponsors for this challenge.

 

I used two of the cupcake images on this layout of my DGD eating one of her birthday cupcakes, sizing them to 1.25", and then trimming them into small tags and coloring the images with Copic markers.   These images would work great on birthday cards, too!

Love to Scrap Challenge #25 - Back it Up!

This week's challenge at Love to Scrap is a great one - make your own background!  That's right, no pattern paper is allowed this time.  You can use mists, paint, stamps, embossing, etc. but no pattern paper.

We have two sponsors this week:   Bugaboo Stamps (7 images of choice) and Eureka Stamps (5 images of choice).  I used the image "Nuts About Books" from Bugaboo Stamps for my projects.

For the tag/bookmark on the left, I printed the digi image along with a computer generated sentiment, and then stamped various small images in bright colors to make the background.  For the gift card holder on the right, I created the text background in Microsoft Word, then added the fussy cut digi image on top with foam adhesive.  In both cases, the image was colored with Copics, and then rock candy stickles were dabbed over the peanut portion of the image to add a little texture and sparkle.

Tag, you're it! - if you join our challenge at Love to Scrap

Time for a new challenge at Love to Scrap and this time it's a challenge to use a tag or tags on your project AND a rubber, digi or clear stamp .    For my project, I made a Valentine's card, using the "Bee Mine" stamp from Your Next Stamp, our challenge sponsor this week.

 

I colored the image with Copic markers, and then used a clear glitter marker to add some sparkle to the bee's wings and the flowers.  This is such a cute stamp, and so easy to color!  I have to admit that using tags on cards isn't something I do very often, but I love the way this one turned out.

I'm also entering this card in the Open Minded Crafting Fun challenge (their first one!) to use a new toy or technique.  I bought some Spectrum Noir markers while they were on sale @ Archivers last week and this is the first time I've colored with them. (I used different shades of tan/brown to color the bear).  I don't think they're quite as easy to blend as Copic markers, but then I may just need to work with them a little more to get comfortable with the shading and blending. 

Love to Scrap Challenge #19 - make a shaped card

Our challenge this week at Love to Scrap is to make a shaped card - any shape except a square or rectangle.   Lacy Sunshine Stamps is our sponsor for this challenge, and they provided some wonderful images for the DT to work with.  I used the "Eleanor and Pickles Snow Day Fun" image for my card.

 

 

I colored the image with Copic markers, and then added a little sparkle with some glitter markers on various elements of the image.  I added a punched snowflake to the snowman's hat, and a sentiment stamp from Hero Arts.  The card was cut with my Cricut and the Artbooking cartridge (one of my favorite cartridges ever!).  I used Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges and added some clear gems for a little bling.

It's an "Anything Goes" challenge @ Love to Scrap !

Our first November challenge @ Love to Scrap is one of the more popular themes - anything goes!  As long as you have a stamped (rubber or digi) image on your project, you can use whatever colors, theme, and items you want.

This November, I'm trying my hand at a "30 days of Gratitude" album.  I love the idea of finding something to be thankful for each day and taking time to notice the small things that make the days brighter.  The cover of the album is my project for this challenge.

 

I used some word stamps for the "cherish everyday moments" and some stitched heart stamps to accent the title banner.  The album is a chipboard album from Echo Park, with pull outs on the sides for journaling, photos, etc.  I used my Cricut and the Artbooking cartridge to make the round pages to fit inside the album.  The papers are from Simple Stories.

Let's Play Some Blues! with Love to Scrap

This week at Love to Scrap, we're playing with blue!  We want to see your creation using all or almost all shades of blue (note: a limited amount of other colors for skin, fur, leaves, etc. is okay).  Our sponsor for this challenge is Delicious Doodles and they very nicely provided the DT with some of their digital images for this challenge.

For my card, I used the "Baubles Set 2" digital stamp for the ornaments.  There are actually three ornaments in this set, but I chose to use only the two largest.

 

For the darker ornament, I sponged Distress Ink over the digital image, then stamped over top of that with darker ink and a polka dot stamp.  The lighter ornament was colored with Copic markers, using a Spica glitter pen on the stars and dots.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp, and was stamped using the Hero Arts neon blue ink.

It's a Recipe Challenge @ Love to Scrap!

Our first challenge for October at Love to Scrap is a 3-2-1 recipe challenge.  Use three patterned papers, two flowers, and one diecut (and of course, as always, a rubber or digi stamp image).  Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps. 

For my project, I used the Halloween Window - Frankenstein digi stamp to make this tag for a Halloween treat bag.  My three papers were the yellow check, kraft woodgrain, and the green spider web print.  The scallop circle was a Cricut diecut, and I added two black flowers, adhered to wire and tucked under Frankie's hand so it looks like he's holding a Halloween bouquet.

I printed the digi image three times, on plain white cardstock to color in Frankie's face and hands, on yellow for the background and on kraft woodgrain for the windowframe and shutters.  I used foam adhesive squares to attach the window and Frankie to the yellow background and also to attach the entire image to the scallop tag.
